Darren McConnell

Division 6 By-Election Candidate

Candidate bio – submitted by candidate:

Darren 57, formerly of Saskatoon, now a permanent resident of Wakaw Lake is excited to allow his name to stand for Division 6.

Darren has deep ties to Wakaw Lake, having spent most of his summer days at their family cabin on Oleksyn Beach before moving to Siba Beach in 1993. Darren and his wife Rhonda have recently made Siba their permanent residence and excited to call this community home.

Darren’s background in managing his own Electrical Contracting business of 30 years has equipped him with a wealth of knowledge and experience. He would bring a strong skill set to this council focused on effective communication, critical thinking, leadership, positive attitude and teamwork, along with highlighting his strength of problem-solving.

Through his years as a business owner, Darren has been involved with and led numerous Saskatchewan boards, allowing him to understand the vital role council members hold in addressing citizens’ concerns, while actively seeking solutions to improve the community for everyone.  Darren realizes that people are the most important asset of any organization.

Giving back to the community holds significant importance to Darren and is something that has been at the core of everything he has done.

Darren’s vision as a Member of Council is to help ensure sustainable planning, long-term financial and environmental sustainability, and livability of the area we all live in. He would achieve this through community engagement, being part of effective decision-making, and ensuring that every voice is heard.

As a long-standing lake resident and now permanent resident, Darren is passionate to advocate for positive change in our community. Having witnessed the strength and potential firsthand, he believes that by working together, the council and community members can continue to build a bright future for all current and future residents.

Darren is ready to step up and play a role in helping the R.M of Hoodoo Division 6 grow and mature sustainably for the benefit of the entire community. I ask for your support at the advanced poles Friday August 4th 12PM to 8PM and election day August 16th 9AM to 8PM both at the Wakaw Legion Hall.
